Rotavirus: Introduction, Morphology, Pathogenesis, Lab Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention

Rotavirus: Introduction, Morphology, Pathogenesis, Lab Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention History of Rotavirus Rotavirus was discovered by Ruth Bishop and colleagues in 1973 and was described as found in children with gastroenteritis. In 1974, Thomas Henry Flewett suggested the name rotavirus after observing that, when viewed through an electron microscope, a rotavirus particle looks like a wheel (rota in Latin), and later the name was officially recognized by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) four years later.
