Introduction of Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) Test

An Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) Test measures the level of AMH in the blood which corresponds to egg count in females. It also acts as an indicator of a woman’s reproductive health. Applications of this hormone are as follows-

  1. Estimation of the number of eggs in the ovary
  2. The prognosis (treatment)
  3. To know the response against injectable fertility drugs to stimulate ovaries to mature multiple eggs in preparation for IVF (in vitro fertilization).
  4. To determine if an ovarian mass is a granulosa cell tumor
  5. To diagnose polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
